The No Smoking Day campaign aims to help people who want to stop smoking and encourage those who may be hesitant to make a quit attempt, by creating a supportive, informative environment and highlighting the many sources of help available in Fife.

Across the country around three quarters of a million smokers will make a quit attempt around this time of year. This year’s local campaign is called "The best time to quit is now" and aims to highlight the positive benefits quitting smoking can have for smokers and those around them. The main messages of campaign are that Stopping smoking will:-

  • help to manage stress by improving your blood pressure
  • support brain health by reducing your exposure to carbon monoxide
  • improve mood by taking control - you are greater than your nicotine addiction
  • make it easier to be mindful by improving sense of smell and taste
  • help to feel comfortable to exercise as breathing improves
  • reduce feelings of stress and anxiety
  • help any medications work better.
