Apprenticeships are a great way to start or develop your career. Not only do you earn while you learn, but you also get to gain a qualification too. An Apprentice is employed and earning a salary from day one. They learn on the job with support from experienced colleagues and work towards a SVQ qualification. Apprentices are supported to experience other areas of practice to develop a deeper understanding of the sector. Many of the apprenticeship opportunities are open to anyone and any age, from school leavers or people seeking a change of career.
Meet Kara
“I started off as home care scheduler apprentice in 2013 after leaving school. I gained a SVQ 2 in business and administration over the 2 years in my apprenticeship and with the knowledge I picked up over the years it allowed me to secure a full-time permanent post”
Creating Career Pathways for Young People in Social Care
Supporting young people into rewarding careers in social care remains a key priority for the Partnership, and we’re excited to share some fantastic progress!
We’re delighted to welcome 16 new Care Apprentices to the HSCP. They’re gaining hands-on experience across Fife Council home care, adult services, and older people’s residential care, building essential skills for the future.
This initiative, supported by the Fife Council Workforce Youth Investment Team, ensures young people receive real-world experience and the training they need to thrive.
Next step? Our apprentices will begin their SVQ Level 2 with Fife College in February – an important milestone on their journey to becoming skilled care professionals.
A huge welcome to our new apprentices and thanks to everyone involved in making this happen!
