Fife Health and Social Care Partnership’s Community Children’s Services has successfully maintained their prestigious UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Gold award, recognising their continued commitment to supporting families with infant feeding and early relationships.
The reaccreditation confirms services across Fife are delivering high-quality, evidence-based care that helps give babies the best possible start in life, while supporting parents to build close and loving relationships with their children.
The independent assessment praised the strong leadership, positive culture and ongoing commitment to listening to the voices of families.
Assessors highlighted the consistency of support provided by health visiting teams and family nurse partnership and the continued strengthening of the Breastfeeding Support Service.
The award also reflects improvements in breastfeeding outcomes locally, with local figures showing an increase in mothers starting and continuing to breastfeed their babies since the previous accreditation.
To maintain the Gold standard, services will continue to build on this success by implementing an action plan focused on strengthening staff culture, ensuring colleagues feel heard and valued, and further enhancing support for families.
Lisa Cooper, Head of Primary and Preventative Care Services said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the dedication and compassion of our staff, who work closely with families every day to provide the best possible support.”
The UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative is a nationally recognised programme that supports public services to protect, promote and support breastfeeding and parent-infant relationships.
