In 2022, as part of developing our Participation and Engagement Strategy, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership asked the public how they wanted their voices to be heard. The message was clear: they wanted a forum.

We listened – and created the Fife Wide Public Engagement Forum. Since our first meeting in October 2024, we’ve hosted three face to face gatherings and two online meetings, bringing people together to share views, ideas and their own personal experiences.

At our latest event at Abbeyview Community Hub in Dunfermline, members took part in lively discussions around the refresh of the Partnership’s Strategic Plan. The room was full of energy and the quality of feedback was fantastic.

We explored two key topics: prevention and early intervention, and digital solutions. Members suggested that health education should start in childhood, and that positive stories, support and accessible education can help people make lasting changes to their habits. When it comes to digital tools for managing health, members emphasised that these need to be free, easy to use and come with clear instructions and visible benefits to encourage uptake.

One of our members, Ken Fraser, gave an excellent presentation about why he joined the forum and his hopes for the future development of it. His story resonated with many of those attending the meeting, members and staff alike. A big thank-you to Ken for his honesty and inspiration.

We’re excited to keep growing this community and are currently welcoming new members. If you’re passionate about making a difference and helping shape health and social care services in Fife, we’d love to hear from you.
