April 2016 triggered one of the biggest transformations of health and social care services in Scotland. The national drive is to have health and social care services delivered jointly, locally and as effectively as possible. Across Scotland Partnerships have been set up to meet this aim and to support people to live healthy, independent lives.
In Fife, a vast range of services from NHS Fife and Fife Council’s Social Work Services have transferred over to Fife’s Health and Social Care Partnership. Services we are now responsible for include:
In Fife we work with around 300 organisations across the Third and Independent sectors and they are a vital part of the Partnership in delivering services.
Fife is one of the largest Health and Social Care Partnerships in Scotland, next to Edinburgh and Glasgow, with around 5,000 staff and a joint budget of around £470 million.
The rapidly ageing population means many more people will need health and social care support in the future. We must continue to change, modernise and evolve services and the way we work to meet the challenges of the future. It’s time to think differently about health and social care.
